ASKING FOR THE TIME

In Vietnamese, when you ask for the time, you use the following phrase:

PATTERN

What time is it?

If we break down the words:

Mấy: How many

Giờ: Hour

It is an interesting point about asking the time in Vietnamese. We do not normally ask “What time” but “How many hours/time?”

There is another common way to ask about time in Vietnamese:

PATTERN

BÂY GIỜ LÀ MẤY GIỜ?
