Vietnamese Movies #2 – Naughty Kitchen God
This is one of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year Movies released in 2021.
Also a comedy, this Vietnamese movie is about a Kitchen God who manages the daily affairs of Minh’s house kitchen and Minh, a man infamous for his frivolous actions, debauchery, drunkenness, and revelry.
An unexpected accident occurs that causes the two (a God and a human) to stick together with a magic cord.
The Kitchen God and Minh go everywhere to find ways to untie this strange rope.
On this interesting and humorous journey, the two discover that there is a dark force gathering all the most powerful Kitchen Gods energy sources in the world, preventing all Kitchen Gods from returning to Heaven on 23rd December each year (according to Vietnamese folklore to dominate the Fire of mankind).
- What do the Kitchen God and Minh have to do to combat this dark conspiracy?
- What is that strange magic chain?
- How does it link to the destiny of the Kitchen God?
There are certainly a lot of unanswered questions for us to understand here!
However, this comedy is a great way to understand Vietnamese traditions during the Tet holiday (Lunar New Year).
Again, the actors are all from the South so you may catch a bit of a Southern accent from it.
